Rum Sauce, my favorite.

I still have to do a write up about my family’s summer vacation but I am still mentally on vacation… So instead, I decided to share one of my most famous, and simple, recipes!

Rum Sauce

This is perfect as a dip for fruit, like strawberries or gram crackers. You can also make it thicker and use it a frosting on cupcakes!

What you need:

1 8oz block of cream cheese (at room temperature)

1 pint of heavy whipping cream

1 cup brown sugar

½ cup powdered sugar (or more for frosting)

1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

2 Tablespoons of rum or rum extract

In bowl combine brown sugar and heavy whipping cream and let sit so the brown sugar starts to dissolve, otherwise your dip will be gritty. In mixer add block of cream cheese and beat on low till smooth, add vanilla and rum, slowly add the brown sugar & heavy cream mixture. Beat on medium until it is all incorporated (The higher speed you mix it on the lighter/fluffier it will become.) Finally put the mixer on low and add the powdered sugar as desired. Just remember the more powdered sugar the sweeter it will be, but it will also become thicker and perfect for frosting. Put it in an air tight bowl and chill till you are ready to serve it!

I love using this in place of traditional cream cheese frosting but it gets the best reviews when I use it as a dip for strawberries!
